Services - How I work
The design process consists of the following steps:
Initial Consultation During our initial consultation we discuss
your needs, likes and ideas and decide on the style of garden you
wish for.
We identify all the essential conditions that will influence the
design, such as soil type, aspect or existing slopes. I note existing
garden elements such as paths, sheds and other utilities or features
which might require screening. Positive elements such as views or
exceptional features are to be enhanced.
I will make some suggestions and then sit down with you to discuss
them, and alter them as required.
Site Measurements Next is to take site measurements and create a
base map. I will come out to your property and take measurements
to ensure that the garden I design for you makes effective and practical
use of your available space and natural features.
Concept Design The creation of a preliminary design is next: Using
the feedback provided by you, I will choose one of the concepts
or incorporate parts of more than one to create the final concept.
I will use this final concept to plan the placement of landscaping
elements.
Final Plan / Master Plan The creation of the final plan will involve
me meeting with you to review the changes I have made to the chosen
preliminary design.
If any changes are needed, then another meeting will be scheduled
before development of the master plan and final plant selection.
The final plan will include a plan layout of your garden and a complete
plant chart which denominates the botanical and common name of each
plant and also the number of plants required along with their features
such as flower season and colour, and height of plant at maturity
and we will offer detailed recommendations
on how to maintain your new plants.
Our master plan is designed to be clear and simple for a landscaping
contractor or yourself to follow.
